Who Can Use the Service

Is the Gateway for me?

The Gateway can help people in Bath and North East Somerset who need some support to live independently.  People from all walks of life might be able to benefit from the services including those who are currently homeless or who have housing problems and are at risk of having to move into residential care or becoming homeless.

The Gateway is a single point of access for vulnerable and socially excluded people to access supported housing and/or community based floating support services. Access to many supported housing services, including floating support services, is via the B&NES Gateway. For more information see Partners Info.

If you are local to Bath and North East Somerset and can answer ‘Yes’ to at least one of the following questions, you could benefit from applying to the gateway for a support service.

Do you need some support to enable you to continue to live independently in your own home?

Are you moving into a new home and need resettlement support: e.g. access to furniture, setting up utilities, etc.?

Are you worried that you cannot cope with your housing: e.g. have problems with rent arrears, debts and bills?

Do you fear that you might be at risk of losing your accommodation?

If you are living in your own home, or have just moved in to a new home, and you need support, the Gateway can refer you to a community based floating support service. A support worker can then visit you in your own home and help you with a number of activities that will help you to increase your independence and make you feel more confident.

Alternatively, you may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
